Hunting Update from Montana | Redneck Vacations

DeckerDeer2013This year’s deer hunt in Montana is going great! We started hunting on Sunday afternoon and my brother-in-law was able to
bag himself a nice buck not too long after heading out to hunt.

It’s always tough to choose to shoot a deer on the first day of your hunt as you know you have the opportunity to see a
nicer deer later in the week. As always, you always see a nicer rack and a bigger body, but you when you get ready to pull the trigger you have to be committed to your decision.

Today, Tuesday, we had a great day as I was able to get a nice buck in the morning and my dad was able to get one in the afternoon.  I was able to shoot mine at about 200 yards away which is a fairly easy shot.  My dad was able to use his new Weatherby 30-370 to drop a buck at 790 yards.  It took him 3 shots, but it was an accomplishment none the less!

Now that we’ve got our limit and it’s only Tuesday we can now take some time to relax before heading back to work and the family.  More updates to come as our trip proceeds.
