Jeff Bezos said the following to a crowd of Princeton graduates in 2010:

“I will hazard a prediction. When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices. Build yourself a great story.”

I love this!  “Build yourself a great story!” 

If you keep this in mind as you’re going throughout your day, weeks and months of your life you start taking the roads that lead you to building a great story and that story can be anything you want it to!   Do you want to have your life be a story of helping people?  You can do that?  Do you want to have a story of being someone who lived through many adventures?  You can do that?

It all starts with making the right choices to create your story.  Each and every decision we make will build upon our life’s story and lead us to the next decision.  It’s like a “choose your adventure” book that I used to read as a kid?  Want to be known as the loving and caring person?  Choose to help someone when they are in need.  Want to be known as the person that educated people for better?  Start mentoring people.

As Jeff Bezos said, In the end, we are our choices; choose to make them wisely!
