7 Things Every Business Website Should Have to Attract Customers

GLP WebsiteIf you’re building a website for your company, or already have one, below are 7 things EVERY business website should have.  Too often I will go to the website of a business trying to find out more information only to be disappointed.  To make sure you attract customers to your business, implement the following things into your website:

A Phone Number on EVERY Page

The majority of business, especially small and medium sized businesses, have customers that want to contact them by phone.  This is especially true if you have a restaurant, service business (like plumber, lawyer, etc) or retail store.  If I build a customer website or advise on one, I like to have the phone number in the header and footer of every page.  For mobile phones, it makes sense if this is a text entry versus an image, that way people can click on the number and call it from their phone.

An EASY TO FIND Contact Form

Businesses that provide quotes for customers, like plumbing, construction, and other service companies, should have a contact form that is easy to find.  I like to have one that is nicely placed on the home page and then another one on a Contact Us page.  Another way to do it is to have a large “Request A Quote” or “Contact Us” button on every page.  Again, you want to make it easy for customers to contact you.

Prominently Placed Address

If your business requires foot traffic, like a restaurant, retail store, or a place like a mechanic, then you should make it easy for people to find your location of business.  Your address should be on the HOME PAGE and in the footer of every page.  That way if customers are looking for you from their mobile phone or just want to get your address quickly they don’t have to go hunting around for it.

Locations That You Serve

Do you go to your customers?  If you are a plumber, contractor, or other type of business that does business at your customers’ locations, then it’s wise to list the areas that you serve.  This is especially true if you live in an area that has multiple cites or towns that are close together in geography.  This will also help in getting you listed in the search engines when people search for  your services in a location that you serve.

List the Services  that You Provide

Make sure that your customers know what services that you provide by providing a list of your services.  This can be on a page dedicated to services or you can create a nice list on the home page.  Don’t for get to mention that you also provide “other related services” should you forget a few.  This will also help you in you quest to get listed in the search engines for those services.

Provide the Products that you Provide or Work With

If you sell products, then provide a list of products that you sell or work with.  It’s also wise to provide a list of brands.  Again, this will help your customers have more information to work with and get you listed in the search engine rankings.  You don’t have to list every single product, but do list the overall categories.

ALL Restaurants should PROVIDE A MENU!

This should be known, but it amazes me how many restaurants don’t.  It’s as easy an uploading a PDF file or an image of your menu.  Also, if you are known for special items or are known specific things, make sure you list them so that people find you when they search for those things.

Here are some examples of websites I’ve built;
