One of the challenges of having a PS3 is that the remote that comes with it is connected via Bluetooth, which is not the way all of our other devices, like TVs, Receivers, DVD players and everything else is connected.  SMK-LINK has fixed this problem with their Bluetooth Universal Remote Model VP3700 that works seamlessly with the PS3.

I’ll be honest, I’m not a gamer.  In fact, I have NEVER played a game on my PS3 in the 6 years that I’ve owned it.  I purchased it because it is the best media console out there if you want Blu-ray, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and a bunch of other cool stuff.  Because I don’t play games I was instantly looking for a remote that wasn’t a game controller and controlled my other devices.  That led me to the one and only remote I found that was worthy of purchasing, the SMK-LINK.

I have found that it easily controls 99% of the functions that I want it to on my TV, Receiver, AT&T U-verse box, and PS3.  I had it up and running and controlling my devices within 10 minutes of opening the package, which included setting up some custom buttons.  The only thing I can’t get it to do is to switch the input on my receiver.  There’s probably a way to do it, but I haven’t taken the time to research it too much.

I highly recommend this remote, though one tip that you should follow.  Do NOT use the batteries that come with it.  They will only last about two weeks and will cause you weird issues with your remote.  If you see your remote not functioning like it should, try changing out the batteries.  This required a call to SMK-LINK’s customer support for me to figure out, which was provided by a great customer service rep.

Upon reviewing the specs for the PS4, this remote should work seamless with it as the remote still uses the same buttons and it’s still Bluetooth.
